WOLFEN is one of my favorite films to have on in the background when I'm working. I really like it, out of all proportion to what it's about or its acting, although I think both are very good. It's a wonderful movie in the sense that it's the equivalent of reading a book you enjoy- there are side treks and vignettes, character moments and real depth in each minute of viewing.
It is also a movie redolent with 9/11 symbolism and motifs, although of course years before the tragedy, and not due to any predictive programming- in my opinion the book's author and the subsequent film are tapping into something much more direct, elemental and Jungian.
Wolfen is the title of a 1981 horror film starring Albert Finney, Diane Venora, Gregory Hines and Edward James Olmos based on Whitley Strieber's 1978 novel The Wolfen. It was directed by Michael Wadleigh and the screenplay was by David Eyre, Eric Roth (uncredited), and Wadleigh.
